• Plan your storage space.
  • Place items that you may need to access regularly in the front.
  • Allow for walk-ways so you can access all items easily.
  • Keep all items at least 18 inches from the ceiling fire extinguishers. This is a safety issue subject to inspection and will be strictly enforced by Management.
  • Do not lean any item against the walls of the storage unit.
  • Leave a small space around the perimeter of your storage unit to aid in circulation.
  • Use Spare Space specialty moving boxes for easier and more secure stacking.
  • Stack lighter boxes on top of heavier boxes.
  • Do not over-pack a carton or it will be too hard to lift or rearrange in the unit when adding additional items and removing needed ones.
  • Be sure to pack cartons so they are evenly balanced and will not tip over on other items.
  • Label all your cartons clearly on both sides and keep a checklist handy for easy reference.
  • Use drawers in furniture for storing pictures, knick-knacks, china, silverware, and small items. Wrap them in our bubble wrap or acid free tissue paper to prevent breakage.
  • Use large appliances as 'packing cases' for blankets, towels, table cloths, and clothes.
  • Garden tools can be stored together in empty trash cans.
  • Stack bins and buckets inside one another.
